Moda Friendship Quilt Along

Monday, February 18, 2013


Today begins the Moda Friendship Quilt Along!  The designers have made blocks each using their fabric lines from Moda. We all have a pattern to share with our friends.....meaning you! Go to  Moda's Cutting Table blog site and you can find the designer's link and date they are posting their patterns. (I'm sure this means free gifts too!)


Our pattern involves stars....of course. I love any pattern with a star. The block I made uses our newest fabric line "Field Notes".



The center block is saved for a signature if you should wish.

 

When you glance at the block the piecing might seem a bit hard but the instructions make this block very simple. I can envision a whole quilt of these sweet stars. It makes me think of spring. It's so dark here today I could use a bit of spring.

 Here's our basket quilt made from "Field Notes". The pattern, Dandelion Basket will be at your local quilt shop soon. It's also been made into a fabric kit by Moda so you can have one just like this! (Again available at your local quilt shop soon.)



 I added this tiny ruffle to the quilt edge. Lots of work....but turns out so sweet.


The fabric on the back of the quilt is also from the Field Note fabric line. I love the scrapbook look of this print.

Look for a  "Field Notes" fabric contest on this site later in the week.  I'm working on the final details for cross stitch market in Nashville the first weekend in March. I'm tap dancing as fast as I can to get it all done.

    This is fun, I was just at Barbara Brackman's site and saw this quilt a long. so I hoppe over here.. That is a pretty block and this will be fun creating all these signature blocks........I can tell you right now I probably won't keep up with 3 a day but you never know there may be some days I can, if only I didnt have to go to work everday!!!! lol. Thanks for the block....

    Thanks for the pattern! I love the baskets and ruffled edge on the vintage quilt. It reminds me of some of the quilts my grandmother made many years ago. I've got to purchase some of these fabrics to start my own basket quilt!

Can't wait to do these blocks! It's been a while since I've put together a quilt and I'm feeling that urge, the smell of fabric and sewing machine oil....ahh, nothing better :)

    My faves:Antique Fair and Field Notes. I love these fabrics! Absolutely stunning! Any chance any of you have any of the Antique Fair solids or checks hanging around still? It's getting really hard to find. But I am fussy about my shades of reds and burgundy and you guys nailed it! And Field Notes has just a very fine, refreshing, cold lemonade on a hot southern day kind of feel. I can't wait to make my first set of quilts, pillows, and table toppers with it.

    Another beautiful line of fabrics. Can't wait to see it in person. Also wondered if you and Barb were ever interested in republishing the book Higdon Camp, 1924. I know a lot of people looking for it, especially the pattern for the Camp Reveille Quilt. Something to consider. :0)

    Pattern for the Camp Reveille quilt AND entire book Camp Higdon 1924..YESSSSSSS

    LOVE the ruffle on the quilt must have taken a LOT of fabric and a long time to do. BUT what BEAUTIFUL results!!!

    Please help!
    I am attaching my first ruffle -- looks gorgeous -- what do I do with the corners when I put on the binding strip? I just "clipped" it at the corner. Now I don't know how to sew the binding strip to the quilt back at the corners -- not shown in Country Inn on page 110. I just love that quilt and like everyone else -- everything you and Barb do! Thanks so very much for your help!
