Barb has done it again!
Monday, April 4, 2011
Barb and I met over the weekend at Bottom's Up. No...we weren't going to a "gentleman's club"....and I use the term Gentleman very loosely.... and we weren't doing the Cancan at the Moulin Rouge. Just the thought of Barb and I doing the Cancan makes me want to say OUCH! No Dancing with the Stars for us. We were involved in free-wheeling and decadent entertainment of the antiquing kind.
The first weekend of each month is a gala affair down in the historic west bottoms of "Cow Town." The old buildings around the stockyard area of Kansas City are slowing being converted into antique havens. Bottoms Up is our favorite one. It's packed with vendors who bring the best stuff. I will have to take my camera next time so you can visit too.
As we were getting ready to leave, Barb pulled the linen pictured above, from the front seat of her car. Thought I would give you a peek. This piece is the final bonus pattern which will be included in #12 of the Anniversary of the Heart series. I'm working on the pattern today. It will be ready soon.
My Elizabeth Scheffield is coming along too. Love the green parrot. Thank goodness the parrot is over two threads! I think I'm going to stitch my Mom's name on this one. I might add some flowers on the stem behind the parrot. It looks like it needs a couple there.
And....my books from Bonnie Slotnick came on Friday. Great weekend reading!
I'm going to have to try the taffy. I purchased this book in memory of my father. I remember him making taffy at Christmas time and thought it would be fun to try.
Well...have to go. Work is calling. Will show the final pattern for Anniversaries of the Heart soon.
Until later dear friends!

Elizabeth S. is gorgeous. I love the jewel-like colors of the birds.
Can't wait to see the completed bonus sampler!
ReplyDeleteWe have a Bottoms Up in my hometown but it is a pizza restaurant...a very delicious pizza restaurant!
Oh my goodness -- I have been so eager to see the bonus. Wondered if it would be two separate squares -- but Barb came up with a masterful solution. I love, love, love it. When will we see house #12? I have been waiting to see all of the houses before I decide who to honor in each of the squares. This has been such a fun project. Thanks for all of the happy stitching memories.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful but can't wait to see more. Not good at waiting!

Love the "peek"...can't wait! Careful with the cookbook collecting...it boarders on hoarding for me! Between the stitching stash and recipes/cookbooks (and my husbands model trains), we may have to move to a bigger house!!
ReplyDeleteThe sneak peek looks fabulous. Love your Elizabeth S. too.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the wording on the sneak peek!!! I can't wait until it is available!

Oh, oh, oh that is such a gorgeous design!!

I can't believe you tantalized us so with information about a heavenly antique store and didn't take pictures! Wahhhh! Next time for sure Alma! Love the sneak peek on the new chart. Beautiful colors...as always!
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful stitching - even before you two are finished!
ReplyDeleteI haven't had molasses taffy in years. Reminds me of my dad too.
Cow town sounds like a fabulous place. Do they have a web site? I would love to visit since I am only a few hours away in Iowa.
ReplyDeleteI really like your Elizabeth Sheffield. The parrot is just like the one in Elizabeth Easton that I have been working on. I have found several versions of Elizabeth Easton sampler adn also another one similiar to it by someone else. Very interesting, I will have to look up my pictures again.
Gorgeous, gorgeous, and fun!
ReplyDeleteLove the bonus block...a perfect finish to a wonderful project. Can't wait.

ReplyDeleteI don't know how you two have time to get anything done...you are so busy with so many interests. I stopped cross-stitching when I began quilting, but sure admire the samplers you post.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see an article on your inspiration journal.
What fun to see the cookbooks you were talking about at the quilt show! I can't wait to get to the cshop myself next time I go to the City.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could go to the Kansas City markets too!!

You've been busy gals, as usual. I picked up one of your books recently as we traveled through OKC and the owner said she really appreciated how thoroughly you explain the finishing process on many of your pieces. Happy stitching! ~Roberta
ReplyDeleteAll so pretty, pretty!!
ReplyDeleteTanya
Hi, Are you using a natural linen for the Elizabeth sampler and silk or cotton floss. The birds are so beautiful that I want to stitch it.
ReplyDeleteAlma
ReplyDeleteI wanted to say also that the week end you are coming to Columbia Mo for the bike ride there is a open air flea market on Interstate I-70 @millersburg exit
