The Buggy Barn
Friday, August 20, 2010Don't you just love it when you finish something so sweet that it makes your teeth hurt? I've been walking around the house with this sewing roll placing it here and there....just trying it out to find my favorite place for it. (I'm weird....I know!)
Don't you love the way it rolls up? Just right to tuck into a small sewing box. I used the blue rose print from our newest fabric line, "Wild Rose." It seemed just right for this project. (Wild Rose will be in quilt shops in November. Click on "Wild Rose" to see the prints on Moda's website.)
This is the antique one Barb purchased from Kathy Barrick. I've been studying it trying to figure out the construction. After making several, I finally finished one I love. This looks like it was made about 130 years ago to me. I appreciated the work put into this piece by a woman long ago. I bet she was tickled when hers was done too!
The one made by me is part of the class project at the Buggy Barn. We are getting out our suitcases and traveling to Spokane, WA for a bit of fun with Pam and Janet. (I really have to go and buy a suitcase as I don't have one anymore. I gave mine to my son when he moved to Washington, DC.....so I better get to the store!)
Hope your day is filled with projects that make your heart sing!
Until later!
Alma

I'd carry it around the house too - it's adorable!
ReplyDeleteI love the sewing roll and I have just the little box to put it in. I can't wait until you publish the pattern. I hope you come to the Washington, DC area sometime to teach classes.
ReplyDeleteI am glad I am not the only one, lol.
ReplyDeleteI do that every time I make something new for the house, have to try it out in different spots. Love the antique and how you reproduced it, would love to do that one.

I really like the sewing roll, and I can't wait to see the new fabric line. Have a happy trip!
ReplyDeleteAlma, believe it or not, I have just recently discovered your fabrics !!! Can you believe it? What world have I been in? I thought I was a true stitcher, but I was told I am not until I discover your fabrics, so I think I've finally been promoted to "true stitcher" LOL. I love them !! Now I just need to convince my local quilting shop to carry them !! I really like the sewing roll...., but then again, is there anything you guys do that I don't love? NOT !! I look forward to your Shepherd's Bush retreat class.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the fabric and the gorgeous litle sewing roll! I would so love to attend one of your classes. Hope you have one in the Atlanta area in the not too distant future....Susan
ReplyDeleteI took Barb's idea for her "Sweet Alabama" cross-stitch and did my own thing with it. How do I send you a picture?

I love the needle roll! I do hope you offer the pattern in some way! Perfect for someone who likes handquilting. You can have the single tread run through several needles and move easily to a new threaded needle when needed.
ReplyDeleteLove the sewing roll. Don't think I've ever seen one like that before!
ReplyDeleteHI! I am curious as well if we can order a kit if we are not attending the buggy barn?? Wendy
ReplyDeleteI already know that I must have your new fabric line. You both are so talented. I just love your style.
ReplyDeleteWhat a special project! And I love the result!
ReplyDeleteThe sewing roll is precious. Please tell us that there is a pattern available!
