Barb and I were not able to go to Spring Quilt Market.....and pictured above is the reason why! My youngest graduated from college. Look at his joyous face! Congratulations Greg!
Barb and I are very sorry we missed seeing everyone at market. Thank goodness Edie McGinnis, our editor, presented our newest book, Country Inn during schoolhouse at market. It should be in shops very soon.
I finished the new Anniversary of the Heart pattern while riding in the car. (A bit hard to keep the threads counted right...but great time to work as Dave drove us to the graduation.) It was stitched in memory of my grandfather. I was surprised how much I enjoyed thinking about him as I stitched this piece. Usually I pick a grandmother to remember in my samplers....but as I stitched the year of his birth and his initials into the linen I was so glad that I had chosen him. During the quiet stitching moments I thought of him and our time spent together. It felt so right. This pattern should be in shops in about 2 1/2 weeks. (And....we will include the first bonus pattern with next month's pattern. My son after reading the blog told me, "You have to fill the space.")
The above picture showcases our final Loose Feather project for the years 2009/2010. This is the front of the project bag....the reverse side is stitched with another design. It too should be in the shops in about 2 1/2 weeks. This was stitched on 20ct Straw linen by Weeks Dye Works. It was an easy fun stitch. I had Barb's mom, Leona put the button holes in for me. I just couldn't take a chance of doing them wrong. After all of the stitching!!! I'm a whimp.

Congratulations Greg. That was definitely one good reason for missing the quilt market. I love the new charts or what I can see of the house one anyway but then again I am a total Blackbird addict.

The latest Anniversaries of the Heart pattern looks to be gorgeous, just like all the others! And, I can't wait to see the bonus pattern. I love the Loose Feathers design too!

Congratulations to all! What a great accomplishment. I love the snippet of the new Anniversaries of the heart and the last installment of the loose feathers. I simply cannot wait to get either. Just love all of your designs. I received my Country Inn quilt book in the mail yesterday. Love it!

Congrats to your DS and you and Barb on these new releases. I COMPLETELY understand about being too timid to "rip" in a buttonhole after all of that careful stitching I know a lot of people who just balk at finishing even though they have more than enough skill. That's me, too, even though I'm not sure I earn the "more than enough skill" designation.

At the risk of sounding like a stalker (or, confirming your suspicions...), I was worried when I didn't see pics of the Blackbird booth at Market. I am so glad that it was for a happy reason. ReplyDeleteI've been surfing all of the blogs to catch a glimps of your quilts in KCS booth. My book shipped out today and I am so anxious to see what the quilts look like. The new cross stitch charts look so wonderful! I can't wait til they arrive. It's so fun to see progress pics of the Anniversary Series too. Now if the mail man would get them here yesterday! *S* Yes, I think I'm a Blackbird Designs Addict.

Hi Alma & Barb, I just got the Country Inn book and it's lovely. Those recipes look scrumptious. Just wondering if in the Batchelor Buttons quilt what line(s) of fabric you used. I HAVE to do that quilt NOW! LOL

Son's graduation trumps Market!!!! Am having so much fun working on Anniversaries of the Heart AND just received Country Inn -- there aren't enough superlatives. It is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS.
