I would love have one of your calendars, your vintage sewing items are wonderful.
I can appreciate how lifes changes are a surprise, in a good way.
I love the ruffle binding. I may even attempt to do this one day. I would love to be entered to win one of those calendars. Will it make me more organized? Probably not. LOL

Congrats to the winners! Sorry for your snow... we had sunshine and 75 yesterday, 55 and rain today. The churn looks like a Pin Ball to me! I took your idea and made one myself. What fun!
ReplyDeleteAlma, I was glad to read your comments about the Connie Willis book. I've enjoyed her other time travel books and this one's on my to-be-read pile.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to the winners.
ReplyDeleteI sure will ask my embroidery shopowner if she will have your calendars in the shop.
I really hope so, it looks so lovely.
I am glad we had no snow, but sun, so I was in the garden this weekend.
( oh Alma, while working outside I was also dreaming a little about your lovely calendar.
Thank you for designing this)
Yippeee! Thank you so much, I am going to love using your calendar.
ReplyDeleteSorry for the snow, your little bunny is up to his eyebrows. This gives you more time to sew.
Hi Alma - Thank you for sharing what you are reading - sounds like something I would like and will look for it at the bookstore. Into time travel? Ever read the Outlander series by Diane Gabaldon?
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your lovely snow, I wish I had some to look at. Thank you for the lovely things you create and share with us -

Congratulation to all the lucky winners, and it will be a pleasure to buy the dairy Alma.
ReplyDeleteHow awful to have snow on the first day of spring, hope it disappears soon.
Lucky you have this great book.
Congratulation for the winners! They are lucky, really!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to the winners! We don't have snow but we do still have ice on the lake! I know exactly which calendar I'll be buying for 2011! Please let us know when they're available.
ReplyDeletehooray for the winners
ReplyDeletewishing you warm sun soon
and thanks for the book tip
:0)
I actually did see the randomizer pick #1 once! I was surprised--guess it's not "absolutely never" on picking it. Nice of you to give a bonus to number 1, however. :)
ReplyDeleteAlma, darn I didn't win a calendar. BUT, congrats to the winners and I had another idea pop in my head while reading your blog. Were you going to send us a strawberry pattern that was missing from your last book? I didn't have your email address but thot you mentioned that we should let you know that we needed it...or am I dreaming???? ha!!! Let's hope spring is on the way soon. pjstitcher@mchsi.com
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to the winners. I can't believe you got so much snow! Ugh! Keep it out there and away from me. lol! That book sounds interesting! I'm going to have to look it up.
ReplyDeleteAlma,
ReplyDeleteI have some questions about the ruffle post. What is the width of your ruffle? Also, how much ruffle do make for a quilt(what is the formula you use?) Twice or three times around? Do you have a ruffler on your machine, if not, how do you actually ruffle the fabric? Thank you for your help. Lynn
Congrats to the lucky winners! Please don't send any snow my way!
ReplyDeleteHow in the world do you have time to read books, too?
ReplyDeleteThanks for a nice contest. Can't wait to be able to buy your calendar book.
Congratulations to all the winners!
ReplyDeleteYup, we had snow and ice as well Alma! What a rough way to start Spring. Afraid my columbines now took a hit as they were all coming up already.
Can't wait for the release of your calendar, what a great idea!!
So glad you posted about the Connie Willis book - I had no idea she had a new one out! Her books are ones I just devour!
ReplyDeleteI hope you can have a nice break with some belgian chocolates.......
ReplyDeleteI enjoy very much your desingn and your approche of the colors!
have a very nice spring!
Hi Lynn,
ReplyDeleteI cut the strips 3 1/2" wide x the width of fabric for this quilt. I cut enough length for 2x the border lengths.
I don't have a ruffler...wish I had one though. I use my sewing machine to make the ruffles. I use the largest stitch and sew about 45". I gather that portion and sew it in place on the quilt top....then I sew 45" more, gather that and sew it to the quilt.
I continue in this way until the ruffle is sewn into place. I don't want to gather the ruffle all at once....it's really a long piece to gather. It also never fails that the thread breaks....I think doing a smaller amount manages that problem for me.
Congrats to the winners! That giveaway slipped by me, those are lovely calendars! Sorry for your snow! :(
ReplyDeleteCongrats to the winners - have been out of town and missed the contest, but will certainly be looking for the engagement book!! The tutorial was great and I never really thought about putting a ruffle on a quilt myself, but see how it would be a great addition to some of them - especially for babies.

Ha ha too funny : I was in WWII and on top of that in the Blitz of London also : I can remember it as if it was yesterday
ReplyDeleteI also experienced VI and VII bombs: one of them landing in our garden
I also remember Vera Lynn singing "We'll meet again"
Memories memories!!!

I enjoy reading your blog and noticed last year you went to Paris and visited a needlework shop. I am going to Paris in a couple of weeks and I'd like to find that shop. Are there any other antique stores or markets you would suggest? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
