End of the Day
Thursday, January 28, 2010It's the end of the day and the light is fading fast. I've been sitting on my sofa for the past 4 days. I'm starting to feel like I'm becoming one with the sofa. There are tangles and strands of floss everywhere. Piles of small bits of floss that have been carefully picked out leaving holes for a color replacement. The sampler I'm working on has been stitched about 3 times now. Trying to get it just right.
Barb's making a bit of progress. Below is a small picture of one she finished. We are starting to really like showing samplers in old wooden frames. When your stitching is complete just put the stitched linen in an old hoop. Add a needle and a bit of floss and instant atmosphere. It feels a bit more intimate.
Good night dear friends....tomorrow Show and Tell day!

ReplyDeleteAlma,
ReplyDeleteAll the frustration will miraculously melt away when you see everything finished they way it looks in your mind - no comprises is the message I get from you and Barb :>) And on the way, you encounter wonderfully evocative images like a cosy sitting room and a piece of embroidery in an old wooden hoop perched on a wing chair. Isn't it amazing how a simple action can conjure up a chapter of memories.
I can't wait to see the whole package, charts, beautiful nostalgic pictures, accessories and atmosphere.

I will be right here tomorrow for your show and tell - your patterns are always lovely.
ReplyDeleteYour photography is so inspiring. I'm recently married and we're doing some remodeling. Your collections of antique dishes and sewing notions (all of which I love) are an inspriation for my own little nook I'm creating.
ReplyDeleteI am enjoying your progress knowing that the end result will be hours of stitching for me when the designs are for sale.
ReplyDeleteThank you for all of your hard work.
I love the sampler in the old hoop....very vintage.
