Every 5-10 years this woman calls me. Not only is she too cute...she is smart, talkative and very funny. You would never know by looking at her that she knows how to send me over the edge. She looks so nice and friendly you are probably thinking, "Alma, what's wrong with you?"
But after talking to her and hearing what she has to say....I put the phone back into the cradle and think "Darn it anyway....now I have to lose 30 lbs in a matter of weeks and find something fabulous to wear."
You've probably guessed why she's calling me...it's class reunion time. I don't know why I do this to myself. Last time she called me I told her...."No Theresa, I'm not going!" But each time I end up going and having a wonderful time. I've been to every reunion. Now, as the old folks get out of the car and go into the party it's agony because I know I'm one of them too. We are all getting older....and you can really tell after not seeing someone for 10 years. It's all over our faces, wiggley arms, larger clothing sizes and sagging parts (I won't go into specifics here....but you know what I mean.)
Here's my high school picture. You can tell I graduated when the flip was "in". I'm sure that hairdo took me a bit of time to get just right.
After looking through the year book I see pictures of bright and hopeful faces. Pictures of youth, promise and enthusiasm. I hope they all show up. I love hearing what they have been up to over the years.
Until later dear friends....
Alma

You are fortunate if you're all still here; there were 20 of us but only 15 remain--VietNam, mostly. I live 1500 miles away from where I grew up but can still drive to everyone else's house there; I'm the only one that left and stayed gone. And yes, we all look old now, but then again we're edging up on 70, and actively glad to see each other and spend time together, so it doesn't matter....SJ
ReplyDeleteOH NO!!! The flip is no longer in??????
ReplyDeleteKathy in MA
Alma, I am so sure that you have absolutely nothing to worry about.
ReplyDeleteyou look goegeous!
I am lovin' these pics!! The fun thing about a high school reunion is that everyone is the same age you are. And at my age...I embrace each birthday... beats the alternative!!
ReplyDeleteI love your flip Alma....I've been trying to achieve that look for months now....you are so chic...and doncha know..you're still the cat's meow!
ReplyDeleteWe just went to my husband's 50th reunion and it was a ball just seeing everyone and doing lots of catching up. You'll have a wonderful time this time too....I hope you'll share pictures...hugs, Linda
ReplyDeleteHave a great time, Alma! I've never been back to a high school reunion, I confess. But I've been back to my college ones a few times. :D Love the pictures! That flip looks perfect!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful time at your reunion!
ReplyDeleteOMG, that first picture looks just like my graduation picture! wow, brought back memories. I've never been to a reunion because I went to 4 high schools in 4 states and no one knows how to find me anymore! So sad!
ReplyDeleteOh no, you just reminded me that I have a reunion coming up too!
ReplyDeleteYour photo is adorable!
ReplyDeleteAlma, you are beautiful, both inside and outside. And are they as successful as you, who brings so much joy into peoples lives.
ReplyDeleteStay the same.
Alma,
ReplyDeleteI went to my 40th (!!!) class reunion in June. It was great seeing everyone and catching up.
I recognized almost everyone!
Go to yours and have a wonderful time. We are now having ours every
5 years -- too much happens in ten.
Best wishes....
Have a great time at the reunion! Don't worry too much about the lbs or the outfit! They never matter in the end ;-)
ReplyDeleteReunions are such fun!! My best friend and I have been to every one of our high school reunions .. we leave the hubby's at home cause they would be soo bored! I graduated in 1972 .. love the pictures! Always wanted one of those flips :)
ReplyDeleteEveryone ages to perfection in their own unique way I'm sure you have nothing to worry about.
ReplyDeleteI just love your early hair style and I'm going to have a chat with my hairdresser :)
Have a great time at the reunion! I think I was just a little bit too late to catch the best time ever in history for interesting hair-do's, sob.
ReplyDeleteI've not been to a one of my class reunions....sad, but true. We had out 20th last year, and only a handful of people were there apparently.
ReplyDeleteHave a great time :)
Why is it that we always worry ourselves into a frenzy about events like this and then, when we get there, have the times of our lives :>)
ReplyDeleteYou'll have a brilliant time with all your old friends - and that doesn't mean OLD friends..haha! And just think, you have singlehandedly revived the flip, or as we called it in England, the 'flick up'
Hugs Angela
Alma who cares about saggy parts when you have touched so many. Cari is right...you're all the same age.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful time!
Must be around the same age as me! I had the flip but the hair was also higher on top...the big tease thing. Broke lots og combs doing that. Thsnks for the pic. I'll never forget who's who now!
ReplyDeleteYou were beautiful then and are beautiful now Alma - Go and enjoy yourself - you have much to be proud of - you have spread joy around the whole planet - how many people can say that! You're as famous as a rock star and idolized by thousands - We are all proud to call you friend - Melody
ReplyDeleteAlma, I know you personally and I feel to tell you that you're so beautifull outside and inside. so..go with your friends and have fun, don't worry about anything.
ReplyDeleteLove Niky.
Hola ...desde España un saludo especial para ti ...felicidades!!! tu blog me ha gustado muchisimo...
ReplyDeleteOMG, Theresa looks exactly like my sister. Must have been about 1970. I'm holding off on my reunion until the 50th in 2018. Enjoy yourself.
ReplyDeleteJust had one of those this summer - our 47th. 47 we all wondered. Why 47? Until we got there and saw all of the "We made it to Medicare" banners. It does beat the alternative. Love your flip. Glad we both made it back from Knoxville.
ReplyDeleteLOL I have a graduation picture just like that!
